The original Soundweb 9010 Programmable Controller set new standards in control interfacing to DSP systems, and has yet to be bettered as a simple yet powerful interface.

The Soundweb London equivalent, the BLU-10, builds on that power and reputation by adding touch-screen control to make a more attractive and potentially cost-saving control solution. It is possible that a BLU-10 could replace a more expensive proprietary touch screen solution where simpler control interfacing is required.

As with the Soundweb 9010, up to 100 control ʽpagesʼ of virtually any Soundweb London DSP parameter can be constructed, with the ability to create ʽfoldersʼ for nested pages. Access to specific pages or folders can be restricted with the used of password protection, so that only engineers or key employees can adjust critical system parameters.

Each page can hold up to eight different functions and with navigation being carried out entirely by a page list, all of these functions can be assigned to real parameters rather than functioning as page transitions.

Programming the BLU-10

Soundweb users will be familiar with the simple drag-and-drop programming interface, and the BLU-10 interface is very similar. Once the menu pages have been created, operation of the pages can be tested using the special simulation mode, which emulates how the controller will work when in use. This allows menu structures to be checked before the system goes live.

The BLU-10 connects into a Soundweb London network via its Ethernet port, either directly into the rear of a rackmount device such as the BLU-16 with a Cat 5 crossover cable or with a standard Cat 5 cable into an Ethernet switch. The unit is powered either using the terminals on the rear, accepting a range of 12V – 48V DC or with IEEE802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE).

Mechanical Installation

The BLU-10 mounts in a standard US 3-gang wallbox (available from BSS Audio) using the screws provided with the unit.

The Soundweb London BLU-DAN offers Dante audio and BLU link. This means that the BLU-DAN can be used to ‘add’ Dante to one or more BLU link devices. The BLU-DAN is configurable through HiQnet Audio Architect. A rich palette of logic objects and a "drag and drop" method of configuration provide a simple and familiar design environment. The BLU-DAN features Dante audio. The BLU-DAN is capable of simultaneously transmitting and receiving up to 64 channels of Dante audio (64 x 64). Primary and Secondary ports are provided for fault tolerance. Control is through a separate Ethernet port. The BLU-DAN also features BLU link, a low latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 256 channels, which uses standard Category 5e cabling giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. Fiber media converters can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 40km. A bi-directional locate function allows devices to be identified both from and within HiQnet Audio Architect. The BLU-DAN and the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution.

The Soundweb London BLU-102 offers a fixed configuration of 10 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs, an analog telephone interface, configurable signal processing, AEC processing, and a high bandwidth, fault tolerant digital audio bus.

The RJ-11 port enables the BLU-102 to interface with a standard POTS (aka PSTN or Analog PBX) telephone network.

The BLU-102 has open architecture which is fully configurable through HiQnet™ London Architect. A rich palette of processing and logic objects and a "drag and drop” method of configuration provide a simple and familiar design environment.

The BLU-102 contains dedicated AEC processing for up to 8 independent AEC algorithms. The AEC algorithm can be applied to signals coming from the local analog inputs or from the digital audio bus. 8 individual AEC references (one per algorithm) allow the user to provide a solution for multiple conferencing spaces using a single device.

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) and Noise Cancellation (NC) are also provided per AEC algorithm. AGC ensures that microphone levels remain at an optimum level, and NC removes steady state noise (such as from a projector fan or air conditioning device) from the signal path.

This processor features a low latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 48 channels which uses standard Category 5e cabling giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. Fiber media converters can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 40km.

The BLU-102 is compatible with the entire Soundweb London family and its 48 channel digital audio bus represents channels 1-48 of the larger 256 channel digital audio bus when integrated with the BLU-800, BLU-320, BLU-160, BLU-120, BLU-BIB and BLU-BOB devices.

Analog Inputs provide software configurable gain in 6dB steps up to +48dB per channel and software selectable Phantom Power per channel.

Phantom Power, Signal Present and Clip information per channel is easily accessible, without the requirement for a PC, from clear front panel LED indication. A bi-directional locate function allows devices to be identified both from and within HiQnet London Architect.

12 Control Inputs and 6 Logic Outputs allow the BLU-102 to be integrated with GPIO compatible devices. The Soundweb London Interface Kit, comprehensive documentation which details how Soundweb London systems can be integrated with third party control systems, is included within the installation of HiQnet London Architect.

The BLU-102 and the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution.

Overview Dial in YOUR mix exactly as YOU want it, in Real Time.

The PMC16 is a 16 channel personal monitor controller which allows the user to create a custom mix from 16 channels of audio. Designed to be used with the dbx TR1616 or any other BLU link compatible device, the PMC16 allows for monitoring with headphones, in-ear monitors, powered monitors, or traditional wedge monitors. Multiple PMC16s can be daisy chained using CAT5e cable allowing each user to receive 16 channels of high-resolution digital audio and create their own personalized mix to suit their monitoring needs. The PMC16 comprises a 16 channel mixer section with full control of levels, panning, effect send levels, muting, and soloing. Onboard Lexicon© reverb provides the finishing touch. The PMC16ʼs output processing section includes: stereo width control, wedge monitor compensation EQ, high and low master EQ, master level control, and dbx limiting. With a Setup Wizard for ease of configuration, full 16 channel level metering, channel grouping, 16 preset locations for future recall of configurations and mixes, and an intuitive yet powerful user interface, PMC16 gives you the power to dial in YOUR mix exactly as YOU want it, in real time.

The dbx 520 will help you expertly tame the excessive sibilance often found in vocals and other high frequency dense material. Based upon the legendary dbx 902, the dbx 520’s unique features make it possible to achieve an exact amount of de-essing regardless of variations in signal levels. The 520 allows you to create brilliant, crisp vocals without sibilance! With its modular 500 Series based design, the dbx 520 examines the differences in dB between the high frequency and full-bandwidth portions of a signal, allowing de-essing of signals which change in level by as much as 60dB. It features a Frequency Control with range from 800Hz to 8kHz, Gain Reduction Metering and a De-essing Amount Range from 0dB to 20dB. Control vocals, drums, percussive instruments and problematic material/reverb combinations with the dbx 520!
