- Tailored for Vocals & Speech
- Cardioid Polar Pattern
- Shock-Mounted Dynamic Cartridge
- 50 Hz to 15 kHz Frequency Response
The Shure 55SH Series II is a Unidyne cardioid dynamic microphone boasting a classic look and vocal-tailored sound for recording sessions, live stage applications, and on-camera use. The dynamic cartridge is shock-mounted to impede handling noise and vibrations transferred through your mic stand. The implementation of a cardioid polar pattern minimizes pickup of off-axis noise and ambience, yielding higher gain before feedback and attenuated stage bleed.
The mic delivers a frequency response of 50 Hz to 15 kHz with a gentle presence boost peaking at approximately 6.5 kHz. Its XLR 3-pin output ensures compatibility with most mixer inputs, microphone preamps, and portable PA systems. An on/off switch is provided for convenient muting of the mic between speeches or performances. The attached, self-tensioning, 5/8“-27 thread swivel mount can be tilted up to 45 degrees forward and 80 degrees backward. Chrome die-cast metal construction provides tour-worthy durability.
Classic Appearance
In addition to being a mic with solid audio characteristics for the studio and stage, the 55SH Series II makes a great prop microphone in video shoots, photos, and theater applications
Tailored Frequency Response
The 50 Hz to 15 kHz frequency response features a slight dip in the low-mid frequency range and a gentle rise from 1 to 10 kHz, making its sonic performance optimized for vocals, public address, and dialog
Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing sound pickup at the off-axis sections of the capsule, ensuring high gain before feedback
Shock-Mounted Cartridge
The dynamic capsule is shock-mounted for added protection against shock- and structure-born noise

| The Beta 87 microphone has consistently been a top choice of performers and audio technicians around the world due to its superb accuracy and detail, and rich vocal production. This long-standing favorite now features a new design and has been renamed the Beta 87A TM.
In response to user requests, Shure has redesigned this microphone by just slightly thickening the handle for a more comfortable feel when hand-held. In addition, the Beta 87A now includes the A25D break-resistant swivel adapter.
The Shure Model Beta 87A is a premium quality supercardioid hand-held electret condenser vocal microphone with exceptionally smooth frequency response and high sound pressure level (SPL) capability. Used for professional sound reinforcement, broadcasting, and studio recording applications, the Beta 87A combines superb performance with the ruggedness needed for touring and field production.
The Beta 87A features a controlled low-frequency roll-off that compensates for proximity effect and prevents the "boomy" sound often associated with close pick-up. The characteristic Shure presence rise brightens the upper midrange. The tight supercardioid pattern, with null points at approximately 125 degrees, provides maximum isolation from other vocalists or instruments while offering minimal off-axis coloration. The Beta 87A operates on phantom power.
- Smooth, tailored frequency response provides detail, accuracy, and warmth for vocals
- Extremely accurate supercardioid pattern at all frequencies provides the highest gain-before-feedback
- Three-stage pop filter minimizes breath pop and noise
- Break-resistant stand adapter
- Frequency response: 50 to 20,000 Hz
