CMC3 - Monitor Controller

FULLY FEATURED MONITOR CONTROLLER FOR STUDIOS OF ALL SIZES. PRECISE, COMPACT & AFFORDABLE.

The CMC3 Compact Monitor Controller consolidates the feature sets of Drawmer's 3 most popular monitor controllers: Whilst retaining the famed accurate, and transparent audio quality of the MC2.1, it has the precision and control of the MC3.1 and the low profile, compact design of the CMC2. It is equally at home in a serious home studio as in a professional recording facility.

There is one thing that should always be absolutely guaranteed - that you can rely on the accuracy of your monitor controller. Can you trust the audio that your current monitor controller is providing? Is it colouring the sound? There are far to many monitor controllers available that do in one way or another - Drawmer monitor controllers do not flavour, colour, warm, improve or brighten the signal, the active circuit has been designed to faithfully produce the audio signal whilst removing many of the problems that a passive circuit will bring. For all Drawmer monitor controllers it is imperative that what you record is exactly what you hear.

Accurate & Transparent

With the same Drawmer pedigree as the MC2.1, the CMC3 circuit is just as transparent and accurate. It has been designed to remove the limitations that a passive circuit brings, such as the ability to increase the volume for quiet passages and improved mix checking, without adding the artifacts that lesser quality active circuits introduce.

You hear exactly what you've recorded!

Precision

The CMC3 supports 3 sets of stereo monitors, plus a dedicated mono speaker/sub-woofer output, each can be switched individually and simultaneously and in any order, especially useful for A/B comparisons. You can listen to multiple speakers with the same sub-woofer, or turn the sub-woofer off altogether.

The volume control utilizes a parallelled custom quad pot for excellent channel matching and smooth feel, as does the secondary preset volume control on the front. This provides repeatable calibrated output level for the monitors, so that at the flick of a switch the engineer can hear the mix at the same predetermined volume, time after time, without having to meticulously adjust controls.

Multiple Connections

The CMC3 is very well connected with 4 stereo inputs in total: 1x SPDIF digital input (24 bit/192kHz), using the same DAC chipset as our established MC3.1 monitor controller, 2 stereo balanced jack inputs, plus a 3.5mm jack with variable level control for your Smartphone/MP3 Player.

In addition, it has a 2 professional quality headphone outputs with a separate amplifier and level control, that provide the same audio quality and mix checking as the CMC3 does through the speakers. Talkback is also included with internal or external microphone, level control and audio routing to a dedicated mono output jack & headphones.

Advanced Mix Checking

The comprehensive mix checking facilities of the CMC3 include dim, mono, phase reverse, left and right cut as well as an easy access mute switch, allowing you to check the quality of your recordings: tune into your mix to hear any unwanted artefacts, test the effectiveness of the stereo mix, check for phase cancellation, listen to the stereo difference. Features that many monitor controllers lack.

Compact

The CMC3 packs a lot of features into a small unit. The whole package is presented in a very low profile desktop enclosure of just 3.5cm high with a footprint of 27x16cm (10.5”x6.5”x1.4”).

Tough & Secure

Whilst being smart and stylish the rugged, all steel enclosure will withstand the knocks and bumps of the studio, and, coupled with the high quality components used, the CMC3 is built to last. In addition, a Kensington security slot provides protection from thieves.

MC3.1 - Monitor Controller

Hear the music - not the equipment!

Building on the success of the MC2.1, the MC3.1 Monitor Controller is just as accurate and transparent and of the same build quality. It can still faithfully reproduce what has been recorded without colouring the sound, but comes with a much expanded feature set, including more inputs, better control, extended channel routing and a desk top \'wedge\' form factor.

Additions include a combined digital AES/SPDIF (24 bit/192kHz) input, giving a total of 5 individually switchable sources, including a front panel auxilary input with level control for the easy connection of your mp3 player, smartphone or tablet. Full cue mix facilities, with level control, provide separate source selection for main or cue outputs and the two headphone amplifiers, so the artist can listen to a completely different mix to the engineer, for example. A dedicated cue mix output is also available.

A secondary preset volume control on the front provides repeatable calibrated output level for the monitors, so that at the flick of a switch the engineer can hear the mix at the same predetermined volume, time after time, without having to meticulously adjust controls.

The MC3.1 incorporates three stereo balanced speaker outputs, plus a dedicated mono speaker/sub-woofer output each with individual left/right trims under the unit to provide complete control over level matching. Furthermore each can be switched individually and simultaneously and in any order. You can listen to multiple speakers with the same sub-woofer, or turn the sub-woofer off altogether.

Other improvements include additional mix checking capabilities, which now incorporate low, mid, high solo switches to hear how the lows bleed into the mid, or the stereo width of each, for example, and also the ability to swap the left and right channels. The talkback has been expanded to include an external mic in addition to the internal, and footswitch operation.

Can you trust the audio that your current monitor controller is providing? Is it colouring the sound? For all Drawmer monitor controllers it is imperative that what you record is exactly what you hear. The active circuit has been designed to faithfully produce the audio signal whilst removing many of the problems that a passive circuit will bring. There is one thing that should always be absolutely guaranteed - that you can rely on the accuracy of your monitor controller.

Manage multiple audio sources and sets of monitor speakers, track using illegally loud headphone amplifiers, and talk back to your drummer—all from your desktop. Switch quickly and easily between up to four audio sources with a selection of input types. Audition your music with your choice of three stereo pairs of speaker outputs, each with separate level control—and four screaming-loud headphone outs. With Monitor Station V2, you can evict the drummer from the main room, banish the guitarist to the bathroom, shove the singer into a closet, and make them like it.

The Behringer Monitor2USB is a monitor controller and USB audio interface designed for home and project studios. It pairs a large VCA control knob for your overall output level with the ability to select among three sets of active studio monitors, as well as two sets of headphones. With its USB jack, you can connect your computer straight to the device so that you may play music from your digital library, or you can mix straight from your DAW. Through its XLR inputs, you can route analog sound, balanced or unbalanced.

The VCA amplifier provides several benefits. For example, it allows DC current to flow through the volume control, rather than the audio signal, and thus, bypasses any DC-related signal degradation. This also helps in making sure your stereo image doesn’t drift as you crank the volume knob; anyone who’s experienced in monitor controllers knows this can be a problem—a problem mitigated in the Monitor2USB. The volume knob itself is quite large, and this too serves a function: Such a large size allows for more precision as you turn the control, so you can achieve minutely specific level adjustments, which might be necessary as you switch from monitoring post-production projects to music mixes.

You can use its three sets of outputs in a variety of ways—for instance, you can hook up two monitors and a subwoofer, or three sets of monitors, one of which can serve as your dedicated mono check. On the headphone outputs, a crossfeed control mimics the stereo experience of sitting in front of your speakers by feeding a miniscule amount of signal from the right to the left and vice versa. Amongst other benefits, this feature helps mitigate ear fatigue over long sessions. Mono and Dim buttons are on hand to help you in the mixing process. Included with the Monitor2USB are a power cable and a full, complimentary copy of Tracktion—a DAW to help you in your recording, editing, and mixing journeys.

Palmer Monicon, and the volume is right! With Palmer Monicon, your monitor volume is always under control. The passive mini-mixer with the oversized control is inserted between the stereo output of the notebook, PC or interface and an active monitor system and thus permits convenient and precise volume control of the monitors from the workstation. The passive circuitry with only a few components has absolutely no affect on the sound. Mute and mono buttons make it possible to mute the outputs and merge the stereo output signal into a mono master signal. The inputs and outputs of the controller are equipped with XLR connectors and the 3.5mm stereo TRS sockets usually found on computers. Combo input sockets also permit connection with 6.3 mm TRS plugs. Thus the Palmer Monicon is compatible with both professional and consumer equipment. Genuine wood sides make the practical studio tool in its massive powder-coated sheet steel housing an elegant looking "little helper" that is a typical Palmer product.
