In this era of digital audio, more and more musicians, engineers and producers are longing for
the warm, full-bodied sound produced by vacuum tubes. Say hello to the all-new TP-2. In one
rugged and compact unit, the TP-2 combines a dual channel tube preamp, optical compression
and digital outputs ? a total solution for your demanding audio applications.
Two for one!
The TP-2 offers two completely independent preamps, with individual realtime controls. Each channel
is driven by its own 12AX7 tube. A ?Stereo? switch on the front panel allows both preamps to work in
tandem when processing a stereo source.
Full-featured mic preamps
Using a specially tuned version of the Valve Force technology so widely acclaimed in the Electribe X
series and the TRITON Extreme, the new TP-2 tube-driven preamp imparts a robust warmth and a rich
musical character that is ideal for your critical and challenging acoustic sources. Each preamp channel
accepts either XLR or 1/4″ TRS inputs, and switchable phantom power is provided. Equipped with a Hi-Z
switch, 26dB pad button and a variable trim knob, the TP-2 assures the optimal gain setting for any source,
from a premium microphone to a direct bass or guitar signal. A pair of faders controls the output level,
and a low-cut switch and a phase reverse button offer even more flexibility.
Transparent optical compression
By using state-of-the-art optical compression, the TP-2 is able to respond quickly, breathing life and luster
into your sound. In addition to enhanced response times, optical compression provides a wide range of
dynamic control ? without coloring the source material in adverse ways. Compression sensitivity knobs on
the front panel are teamed with Fast/Slow release time buttons and audiophile analog VU meters for intuitive
realtime control.
Best of both worlds
While the TP-2 works hard in the analog domain to achieve warm, smooth and musical results, its digital
characteristics are no less stellar. Analog-to-digital conversion is 24-bit, using 64-times oversampling for
error-free reproduction. Sampling rates of 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz are offered, and the digital output is provided
in both S/P DIF optical and coaxial formats. Analog outputs are also provided.
Use it anywhere
While the TP-2 is obviously well suited to enrich your hardware or software based digital recordings, it is
perfect for a variety of applications. Live, the TP-2 can be used to add warmth to any vocal mic or acoustic
instrument. As a mastering tool, the TP-2 provides superior dynamic control. You can even use it as a preamp
when preparing audio samples for your keyboard or computer.
XD series plug-in version
For those of you who are already using Korg?s D32XD or D16XD Digital Recording Studios, the full functionality
and feature set of the TP-2 is available as an optional enhancement for these Xtended Definition recorders in the
TPB-2. The TPB-2 mounts directly into the option bay on the D16XD or D32XD front panel.

The PRE-73 DLX is a one-channel vintage style microphone-, line- and instrument preamplifier. The signal path uses only discrete components like resistors, capacitors and transistors. The line and microphone input and the line output are transformer balanced, using three different transformers, each one optimized for its purpose.
This is the way audio components were built before integrated circuits became available. The subjective sound quality delivered by vintage equipment is often prefered over the one delivered by modern units, a situation that is even more obvious now when music is recorded with clean-sounding digital audio equipment.

The circuit used in the PRE-73 DLX is similar to the preamp section in the classical 1073 module with a corresponding sound character that is warm, punchy, sweet and musical. These classic characteristics have been heard on countless recordings through the years and it is a versatile sound that works very well on most sound sources and in most genres. The essence of this sound is now available at a surprisingly low cost, making it available to nearly everyone.

FEATURES

- Vintage Style electronics. No intergrated circuits in the signal path.
- Maximum gain on the mic input is 80 dB, enough to handle passive ribbon mics with quiet sound sources.
- Gain range on the Line input: -20 to + 10 dB.
- Switchable impedance on the mic input, 1200 or 300 Ohms, will change the tone of most mics.
- Switchable phantom power and absolute phase.
- A high-impedance instrument input for any sound module, electric guitar or bass.
- A simple but effective 4-step LED output level meter.
- The output level controls makes it possible to make fine gain adjustments and also to overload the main gain stage(s) for more character and then lower the signal to a suitable level before the output stage.
- Combo XLR/TRS input jacks and separate output XLR and TRS jacks for flexible connections.
- Insert jack for inserting EQ´s and other units.
- External high power power supply to avoid interaction with the audio circuits and transformers.
- A solid build quality that will last many years of normal use.

The PRE-73 DLX has a number of improvement and new features compared to the PRE-73 MKII:
- Tantalum capacitors in the signal path.
- Selectable 1073-style high pass filter, 50Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz and 300Hz.
- Output Attenuator -7, -14, -21 and -28 dB (located after the output transformer) allows overdriving the output stage and the output transformer for added character by lowering the output signal to a suitable level.
- The circuit board is prepared for Carnhill Mic and Line transformer and high pass inductor.
- The Insert jack can be switched in/out from the front panel. An internal jumper can select that the Insert jack always has an output signal.
- Switchable 600 ohm Output Termination and Ground Lift on the back panel.
- Selectable Active or Passive DI input and selectable input impedance in active mode, Hi Z or 100 kohm, by internal jumpers.
- The DI can signal can be selected to pass or bypass the mic input transformer by internal jumpers.
- Relays are used to control internal switching for DI input, Phantom power, Mic Low Z, Insert and Phase for shorter circuit board signal paths. The relays are controlled by front panel switches.
- Revised gain switch for added headroom.
- Circuit board star grounding scheme.
- Revised power supply with separate regulators for the audio circuits and relay and LED circuits.

The AD2022 is Avalon's fourth generation of fully discrete, symmetrical Pure
Class A microphone preamplifiers. The dual mono AD2022 includes the original
sonic capabilities and transparency of the M2, M22 and M5 preamplifiers plus
several additional features, including selectable microphone source loading for
optimized cable/mic matching, improved high-voltage Class A regulated power
supplies, two high Z instrument inputs, variable-passive high pass filter, teflon/
silver wiring and doubled plated circuit boards for superior low level signal transfer.

AD2022 FEATURES
Symmetrical Pure Class A design, two channels
Microphone and hi-Z instrument inputs
Gain switched 4dB steps plus +/- 3dB fine output trim
Selectable microphone input impedance matching
Low noise -126dB EIN

MICROPHONE INPUT
The AD2022 incorporates the most advanced high-performance microphone
transformer available. Split low-ratio primary windings are carefully combined
within a custom mu-metal core for extended smooth frequency response and
very low distortion.  Sealer silver relays are used for minimal signal invasion.
The input signal selector, high pass filter, polarity-phase reverse, +48v power
and the 20dB input attenuator all utilize local sealed relay operation. A variable
passive high pass filter provides a minimum phase shift design while eliminating
low frequency rumble, wind noise and mechanical vibration at sub sonic frequencies.

SYMMETRICAL PURE CLASS A DESIGN
Two 100% discrete, high-voltage, symmetrical Pure Class A signal amplifiers
are utilized per channel. The first operates in a cascaded-cascode FET
configuration while the second stage amplifier is fully bipolar. The twin amplifiers
share the total available gain requirement. This shared architecture increases
the high level headroom capability, improves transient response and doubles the
internal bandwidth of the ultra-high performance pure Class A signal amplifiers.
OUTPUT and METERING
High-current DC coupled, Class A discrete amplifiers are utilized for the output
drive interface with +36dB capability into all known loads.  Two large, high-quality
analog VU meters indicate accurate signal readings while bi-color LED's offers
peak indication at 0dB and +20dB.
