Dedicated guitar and bass tuner with large LCD for easy viewing
The GA-40 is a dedicated, easy-to-operate guitar/bass tuner with automatic pitch detection. In Guitar mode it supports seven-string guitars (7B through 1E), and in Bass mode it supports six-string basses (Low-B and Hi-C). With the precision you expect from KORG, the GA-40 indicates the pitch quickly and accurately. The LCD needle-style display provides both the accuracy of an LCD as well as the easy viewing of a needle indicator, and the display has been enlarged for even better visibility. You can also use the built-in high-sensitivity microphone to tune an acoustic guitar.
Sound Out function produces a reference tone from the internal speaker
In addition to letting you tune visually using the meter, the GA-40 provides a Sound Out function that plays a reference tone through the internal speaker, letting you tune by ear. Each time you press the Sound switch, the tone will cycle through 7B→6E→5A→4D→3G→2B→1E in Guitar mode, or through LB→4E→3A→2D→1G→HC in Bass mode.
Quinta Flat Tuning mode
To support the dropped tunings used in heavy metal styles to produce a powerfully massive sound, the GA-40 provides a Quinta Flat Tuning mode that lets you detect dropped tunings of one through five semitones. This lets you tune super-long scale guitars that extend below the pitch range of conventional guitars.

Large surface-illuminated LED display ensures easy tuning
The Korg pitchblack+ features a large 13-segment LED meter. In conjunction with the tuning guides located below the meter that indicate whether your instrument is sharp or flat, the smooth-moving LEDs provide highly visible confirmation for accurate tuning at any viewing angle. The note name, tuning mode, and calibration are shown by large, highly-readable displays in green and red, and the tuner on/off status is shown by a red LED, ensuring that you'll see everything you need even if you're on a dimly-lit stage. You can choose between two types of display modes: Single mode and Double mode. In Single mode, you can choose between Meter mode, Full Strobe mode, Half Strobe mode, or Mirror mode. In Double mode, you can choose from two newly developed modes; "Focus mode 1" and "Focus mode 2" which offer even greater precision with excellent visibility.
Dual input jacks allow two instruments to be connected. True Bypass ensures that the input signal is unaffected.
As a professional pedal tuner, the Korg pitchblack+ provides A and B input jacks to which you can connect two different guitars or basses, and individually specify a separate calibration, tuning mode, flat tuning, and display mode for each guitar/bass (input). If only a single instrument is connected, you can specify two different tuning settings and switch between them by pressing the "INPUT SELECT" foot switch. This feature supports situations such as when you're playing more than one guitar/bass in a live situation, or for sophisticated musical needs such as using different tunings with a single guitar for multiple songs. The sound is muted when tuning is active, and when the pedal tuner is off, the True Bypass feature ensures that the input signal from your instrument is not colored in any way whatsoever. Fits into your pedalboard, and DC output powers other pedals
The pitchblack+ works great with your current pedalboard system. It provides a DC OUT jack that can supply power to other effect pedals when the optional AC adaptor is used. By connecting the included DC cable, you can supply up to 200 mA of power to multiple effect pedals that require a 9V supply, simplifying the power connections in your effect board.
