Nothing compares to Marshall cabinets in terms of awesome tone and projection. Both visually and aurally, Marshall 4x12 cabs are indeed "the business.“ Great sound and looks however are not everything. Many years of experience mean that Marshall's speaker cabinets are also built to stand the test of time. Their highly skilled craftsmen construct them from the finest quality materials with precision corner locked joints, tough cotton backed PVC covering, heavy-duty hardware, and the highest quality fittings. The Marshall Stack If one thing personifies the image of rock 'n' roll more than anything else it's the Marshall 4x12. Though often imitated, nothing compares with the original. The first 4x12 cab was designed and built by Jim Marshall in 1962. Since then they have made many thousands, which have appeared on stages both large and small all over the world. After the initial success of the Marshall 4x12, it wasn't too long before they designed and built the first stack, where an angled cabinet sits on top of a straight fronted cab, with the amplifier placed on top. This came about after discussions with Pete Townshend of The Who. Pete and Jim Marshall sat down and discussed The Who's requirements for an 8x12 cab with an angled top. This was designed and built, but due to this awesome cab being somewhat cumbersome, only 6 were ever made. As a result, we came up with the more practical idea of stacking an angled cab on top of a straight fronted model. Thus the famous Marshall stack was born. What happened to the six 8x12 cabs do we hear you ask? Well, two went to Pete Townshend, two went to John Entwhistle and the remaining two went to the Small Faces. The Marshall stack, on the other hand, has stayed in production ever since and has gone on to become the most recognizable rock 'n' roll icon. As we invented the stack, Marshall 4x12's are the only true originals. Everything else is merely an imitation. The 1960A is switchable from mono [4 or 16 Ohms] to stereo [8 Ohms per side], and is equipped with Celestion G12T-75 speakers. The highest quality woodwork includes the "corner locking" of each and every joint. This helps give Marshall cabinets the incredible strength and durability, which has become as legendary as the Marshall sound itself. Heavy-duty Grab Handles are fitted to all Marshall cabinets. Their tough, ergonomic recessed casing design gives easy access to the bar of the handle without affecting the cabinet's smooth lines. No sharp metal edges or rough fittings ??? the smooth ABS plastic Marshall corner fits perfectly and offers excellent protection to all 8 cabinet corners. Its closed-back, 18mm birch plywood enclosure is slightly bigger than a conventional 1x12. This gives the PPC112 a greater internal volume for a fatter tone with excellent projection. Housing a single Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, the cabinet also features our unique skid runners on the base to acoustically couple the cabinets to the stage to improve low end responsiveness. For lower wattage heads like our Terror Series or the OR15, the PPC112 is an excellent choice. | Fitted with a pair of Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, the PPC212OBʼs design accentuates the top end frequencies whilst softening the bass response. The split rear panel means the delivery is less directional, creating an airy, spacious and three-dimensional sound. The added presence and chime makes the PPC212OB especially suited for cleaner styles, or for players who want a more vintage combo-type tone from their amp head. The PPC212OB features an 18mm birch plywood shell with our signature skid runners secured to the base to help acoustically couple the cabinet to the stage. | Marshall MF-280A 280W Guitar Speaker Cabinet The MF280 (280W) and MF400 (400W) cabinets are specially engineered to reproduce the balanced mid range and huge bottom end that are a pre-requisite for extreme hard rock and nu-metal sounds, these cabinets feature: - Sonically optimised Celestion loudspeaker designs - Pro-gauge internal wiring - Increased internal volume - Metal logo and piping In keeping with all legendary Marshall cabinets the MF 4x12" cabinets are not only ready for the sonic demands of a high performance head like the MF350, but also the extreme physical abuse they may receive on the road. We recommend the MF280A (angled) and B (base) for full stack operation and the MF400A or B for half stack operation. Stack versus Half Stack: The MODE FOUR cabinets can be used either as a full stack (two cabinets) or half stack (one cabinet) configuration. The rig you choose is a matter of personal taste and as always when it comes to sound we recommend you try both to see which suits your style best. Below is a guide to the major attributes of each: Full Stack: Enhanced on stage spread. More 'cut through' due to accentuated treble and high mids. Iconic stage presence. Half Stack: More controllable spread of sound on stage (especially base type) Convenient and portable. Half Stack Options: Whether you choose an angled or base half stack configuration is a personal choice between the different tonal qualities of each set up. The MF400A (angled) is, in keeping with other angled 4x12" cabinets, tonally more aggressive than the base option. The angled cabinet is the usual choice for those who want a more prominent upper mid and treble response that really cuts through in a live situation. Alternatively, the MF400B (base) delivers a more even mid range with less spread of the aggressive treble response. Marshall 4x12" base cabinets are more often used by professionals as they have a more focused bottom end and a smoother mid range and treble response.
