DJ`s all over the world claim very high demands to their professional equipment, among which the cartridges “plays` their decisive part by realising the scratching, back-cueing, and live artistic performance, as a big part of the show. Reliability and robustness is vital, when the cartridges night after night will have to withstand these demands in environments with extreme soundpressure and vibration.

Scratching and back-cueing impose heavy mechanical stress on the cantilever and its rubber bearing. Therefore, the Ortofon disco cartridges are equipped with cantilevers made from aluminium tube with increased wall thickness. Special attention has also been paid to the attachment of the bearing and the design of the bearing itself. This means that rough treatment will neither damage the cartridge nor degrade its stability.

The OrtofonPro cartridges were the first to combine the unrivalled Ortofon sound quality with the ruggedness that is a must for professional use.

With the introduction of the DigiTrack cartridge, Ortofon continues to break new ground. Finally, technology has become an art. The Digitrack is the perfect marriage of ease and function. With the advent of new computer technology, a DJ can now manipulate MP3\'s with the style and feel of a turntablist and the tradition of a turntable. Introducing the world\'s first needle designed specifically for code vinyl. Low wear, high output and no more lugging around crates of records.

Our engineers spent hundreds of hours studying the characteristic of time coded vinyl from such products as Serato Scratch, FinalScratch, Virtual DJ, PCDJ Scratch and many others. They\'ve designed a product that will pick up all the coded information while leaving minimal wear on your record. Combine superior output and tracking ability and you\'ve got a cartridge that will perform flawlessly every time. Ideal for both mixing and scratching. The DigiTrack will keep you in the groove all night long.

The 2M series were developed in conjunction with Danish designer Møller Jensen Design – the same designer who designed the award winning MC Jubilee and Kontrapunkt series.  Inspired by the facets of a diamond, whose contours gracefully trace the grooves on a recordʼs surface, the 2Mʼs handsome elegance establishes a great combination of form and functionality. 2M are designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. Our philosophy is to play the record sound as accurate as possible, without coloring the sound. We have optimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, weight and size to fit the most common turntables at the market today. The name 2M was selected among several ideas. We wanted a modernname which should be easy to pronounce and to remember, and therefore an alpha numerical name was chosen. 2M means MM, which is the abbreviation for moving magnet. Of course the 2M isnʼt just another pretty face. It has been engineered to the highest standards and is congruent with Ortofonʼs unrelenting commitment to providing the most precise and accurate reproduction possible without coloration. The 2M series of cartridges feature Ortofonʼs trademark split pole pins, an invention which enables moving magnet cartridges to have a flat frequency response, as with a moving coil cartridge.  Split pole pins were invented by Ortofon, and were originally presented in the 500 series and Super OM series.  The 2M Red uses an improved engine, which provides an increased output of 5.5mV. 2M red features a tipped elliptical diamond.
