Today, lectures and presentations are mostly held with audio and visual media support. Connecting laptop computers to the mixing consoles of PA systems, however, can be a major problem due to incompatible connector formats. The Palmer Line Level Convertor PLI06 is a dedicated interface to feed the unbalanced stereo signal typically provided by a laptop to the balanced (mono) microphone inputs of professional mixing desks. It mixes the stereo output to mono while impedance matching and signal balancing are achieved by a high quality audio transformer especially designed for the unit. Moreover, it also prevents ground loops and the annoying hum they result in. The PLI06 is entirely passive and does not require mains power or batteries.

Connecting the PLI06

Equipment providing audio output on RCA phono sockets is connected to the PLI06’s inputs using a shielded RCA stereo cable. For best results with laptops we recommend using their headphones output which is usually on a 3.5 mm miniature stereo socket. Use a shielded TRS mini jack to 2x RCA phono cable for connection to the PLI06. Place the unit close to the signal source and keep the input cable as short as possible since the unbalanced signal path is susceptible to interference. The PLI06’s output is on a standard wiring male XLR connector. Use a high quality microphone cable for connection to the mixing console. Due to the balanced lo-Z signal provided by the Palmer Line Level Converter cable lengths are uncritical while interference- free signal integrity is maintained.

Behringer DI-600P High-Performance Passive Direct Injection Box Introducing the Ultra-Compact DI-Boxes from BEHRINGER There are times when you will want to connect certain sound sources straight to other audio gear, be it for a live performance or a studio session. A direct connection between audio equipment can be a challenge though: technical problems crop up that?ll corrupt the signal. The DI600P lets you connect instruments or amplifier outputs of up to 3,000 Watts. It converts any unbalanced signal to a balanced signal and eliminates unwanted noise. With its high-performance transformer, it also allows you to use very long cables without the loss of high frequencies. This is the sort of medicine that?ll cure headaches in your studio or on stage. It often happens that you want to connect certain sound sources straight to other audio gear, be it for a live performance or a studio session. The direct connection between audio equipment can quickly turn out to be a real challenge: technical problems crop up that can affect the signal. Hook Your Guitar or Amp Up to the PA Be ready for your next gig with the Behringer Ultra-DI DI600P direct box. Designed to send instrument or amplifier signals to the main mixing board, the DI600P is a high-performance passive DI is a useful tool in any gig rig or studio. Dual 1/4" TS jacks are wired in parallel let you plug your instrument into one and use the other as an output to your amp. The balanced XLR mic-level output feeds your mixer a clean and super-flat signal that is true to the source. Sweetwater knows that grounding issues and hum can be a problem at live gigs. The DI600P sports a ground lift switch to kill unwanted ground loops and hum. It also has a filter switch for optimal guitar tone and an instrument/amp switch with a 30dB input level drop. The Behringer Ultra-DI DI600P direct box is an extremely useful tool for any stage rig! Behringer Ultra-DI DI600P Direct Box Features:

Tube-buffered DI-Box DI-1000

The Tube-Buffered DI-Box DI-1000 allows the extraction of all the musical details of
musical interfaces without degrading the sound. This can only be achieved by
providing a very high input impedance to avoid any loading of instrument pickups. This
design approach allows seemingly infinite headroom to preserve the real dynamic range
of the interfaced instruments.A vacuum tube enables all these goals to be achieved
without any compromises in sound quality. The sonic difference between a standard
DI-Box and the Tube-Buffered DI-Box is comparable to the musical resolution difference
between a standard microphone and a studio microphone. One of the best transformers,
the very transparent sounding JENSEN JT-DB-E, was chosen providing complete ground
isolation. The parameters of this transformer, like frequency response, phase response,
group delay and geadroom capabilities, play a vital part in the performance of this DI-Box.

Technical Specifications
Input
The signal of the instrument is directly fed to the tube circuit with > 20 MOhms input
impedance to prevent any signal degradation, inevitable in traditional designs.
Buffered Output“
The second stage of the vacuum tube is used to buffer the signal and lower the output
impedance to < 8 kOhms. This unity gain output allows for cable runs of 10 meters
without loosing high frequency information.
Boost circuit
The boost circuit increases the signal send to the output transformer by 15 dB. This may
be useful for instruments with extremely low output, but decreases headroom capability
to 6 Volt rms. Under these circumstances the signal may be clipped, concerning the output
transformer?s signal, which gives you 2nd harmonic tube-like distortion. This distortion
normally does not occur - but is sometimes desirable, being the reason for this special feature.
Unity circuit
The unity circuit feeds a low distortion unity gain signal to the JENSEN output transformer.
This gives the best possible sound quality.
Ground-lift“-Switch
This front panel mounted switch allows complete ground and electrical isolation between the
direct injection box and the console or recording device.

Construction details
Double sided glass fibre contacted PCB with 70 mm copper plating. 1% metal film resistors
and the finest polypropylene capacitors are used in the signal path. MIL type Switchcraft jacks
and high performance switches ensure flawless operation. The power supply is optimised via
measurement quality toroid transformer and a low impedance design to ensure the lowest
possible noise. Through a double sided PCB all parts are roadworthy secured. A waterclear
blue LED perfects the aesthetics of the DI box.

Standard active DI box. Can be operated with 9 V batteries or 48 V phantom power. High-impedance input; higher output level than with a passive DI box. Active circuitry allows for high input impedance ( 1 meg. ohm) and higher input sensitivity (typical difference between in and out -4 dB). Maximum output impedance with phantom power operation +10 dB. Output: transformer balanced. The special "floating ground" circuitry enables ground lift even during phantom power operation. Metal case 110 x 73 x 42 mm.
