At the heart of the evolved Q Series is the Uni-Q driver array. KEF\'s signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever to realisation. The result is a more detailed, more accurate three-dimensional sound image, which is dispersed more evenly throughout the room than is possible with a conventional speaker. Uni-Q\'s ultra-wide dispersion is further enhanced by KEF\'s \'tangerine\' waveguide over the tweeter dome.

The closed box midrange cabinet design reduces the load on the Uni-Q midrange cone, increasing clarity and detail while delivering cleaner, punchier bass.

With the addition of the Damped tweeter loading tube providing a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter, lower treble performance is improved dramatically and a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover provides cleaner bass response.

The Q550 is the smallest floorstander in the Q Series line. The three-way CM9 delivers truly commanding bass with the aid of twin 165mm paper/Kevlar® cone drive units. An FST® driver, with its characteristic compression surround supporting the outer edge of the distinctive Kevlar® cone, is specially developed for outstanding midrange performance. The CM9ʼs Nautilus™ tube-loaded aluminium dome tweeter keeps high frequencies crisp and sharp all the way up to 50kHz and beyond.

The quality of CM Series drive units has made it possible to use minimalist crossovers throughout the whole range. The resulting gentle transition between drivers avoids the unnaturally rapid changes in dispersion that bedevil more complex designs, while the high quality components, carefully chosen after exhaustive listening tests, ensure that as little as possible gets between you and the sound of the original recording.

All CM Series speakers come with aluminium driver trims. Grilles attach magnetically, so there are no unsightly grille-mounting features to spoil the clean lines of the speakerʼs façade. For the finish, you can choose either one of two real-wood veneers in Rosenut or Wengé, or a highly polished gloss black.
