A new FG has louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the Yamaha R&D Division. Yamahaʼs engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. This analysis led to the development of the new scalloped bracing pattern, a new and ideal acoustic structure that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the Yamaha FG has to offer.

System 66 feature an under-saddle piezo pickup developed by Yamaha. Controls include a 3-band EQ, an adjustable mid-range frequency control, and a precision chromatic tuner for optimum sound tailoring. The system is powered by easy to obtain AA-size batteries that provide a stable power supply for improved sound quality.

In addition to the quick response and attack of APX, solid Rosewood of side and back gives rich sustain. New cosmetics, such as Mahogany wood binding, black button on tuning machine, and the position marks are abalone/ MOP arrows seen in SG3000... it is simple, but gives us high-end appearance. Yamahaʼs new proprietary Studio Response Technology (SRT) brings back the natural, ambient sound of an acoustic guitar, and it does it with the signal from the output jack. Using a sound modeling technique that utilizes data obtained through extensive analysis of four acoustic elements that are missing from conventional pickup systems— string and body resonance, ambience, vintage microphone characteristics, and professional micing techniques, SRT delivers a natural, studio-quality acoustic guitar tone. The same tone that, until now, was only attainable by professional recording engineers in the worldʼs finest studios is now easily usable by any player, on-stage or in the studio.Using a sound modeling technique that utilizes data obtained through extensive analysis of four acoustic elements that are missing from conventional pickup systems— string and body resonance, ambience, vintage microphone characteristics, and professional micing techniques, SRT delivers a natural, studio-quality acoustic guitar tone. SRT Functions
The new SRT system lets you choose from three different high-end mic types as well as two mic positions that let you use techniques similar to those used in a recording studio. The system provides a total of six setting patterns.
The system also allows mixing of pickup and mic sound elements using the BLEND knob, and control of body resonance with the RESONANCE knob to create a wide range of rich, natural sounds.
