Ο απόλυτα ρεαλιστικός ήχος ακουστικού και ηλεκτρικού πιάνου και η μοναδική αίσθηση καθιστά το CP1 ένα από τα σπουδαιότερα επιτεύγματα της Yamaha και ένα μουσικό όργανο που θέτει νέα πρότυπα.
 
Η εξέλιξη της νέας σειράς CP σηματοδοτείται με τον ερχομό του ποιοτικά ασυμβίβαστου CP1. H τεχνολογία παραγωγής ήχων που ενσωματώνει το CP1 καθώς και στο σύνολο της η σειρά CP είναι η Spectral Component Modeling, εν συντομία SCM, που εξομοιώνει με μοναδικό τρόπο ήχους πληκτροφόρων οργάνων που ξεκινάνε από ακουστικά πιάνα απαράμιλλης ηχητικής πιστότητας και εκτείνονται μέχρι και τα Vintage ηλ.πιάνα όπως ακριβώς τα γνωρίσαμε στη Jazz, Soul και Blues στις προηγούμενες δεκαετίες. Η τεχνολογία SCM συνδυάζει την σύγχρονη ψηφιακή δειγματοληψία και την Modeling τεχνολογία πραγματοποιώντας ένα τεράστιο τεχνολογικό άλμα στην σύγχρονη μουσική θεώρηση. Δεν θα ήταν υπερβολή να πούμε ότι ο παραγόμενος ήχος αγγίζει την τελειότητα.
 
 
Επιπλέον η Yamaha εφοδίασε το CP1 με πληκτρολόγιο κατασκευασμένο από πραγματικό ξύλο προσφέροντας άψογη αίσθηση και κορυφαίες ερμηνευτικές δυνατότητες στον δεξιοτέχνη μουσικό. Η πολύχρονη εμπειρία της Yamaha στην κατασκευή κλασικών πιάνων αποτελεί ουσιαστική εγγύηση για το τελικό αποτέλεσμα. Το πληκτρολόγιο που χρησιμοποιείται έχει την ονομασία NW-Stage και όπως η τεχνολογία SCM, αναπτύχθηκε με γνώμονα την χρήση του στη νέα σειρά CP. Ο συνολικός σχεδιασμός του πληκτρολογίου ελαχιστοποιεί τις "δονήσεις” ενώ ο συνθετικός έβενος που καλύπτει στο σύνολο του τα πλήκτρα προσφέρει κορυφαία αίσθηση.
 
 
Το CP1 προσφέρει την δυνατότητα στον "ανήσυχο” μουσικό να "φτιάξει” τους δικούς του ήχους ακουστικών και ηλ. Πιάνων χρησιμοποιώντας τους ήδη υπάρχοντες. Έτσι μπορεί ο μουσικός να επιλέξει ένα ήχο και να αλλάξει τα δομικά του στοιχεία καθώς και τα εφφέ που τον συνοδεύουν με σκοπό να δημιουργήσει κάτι εντελώς διαφορετικό. Επιπλέον η Spectral Component Modeling τεχνολογία επιτρέπει την διαφοροποίηση ακόμα και "φυσικών” παραμέτρων όπως η απόκριση που έχουν τα "σφυράκια” όταν χρησιμοποιούμε έναν ήχο ακουστικού πιάνου. Το CP1 λοιπόν αποτελεί ένα μουσικό όργανο που "μεταμορφώνεται”, αλλάζει τα εγγενή χαρακτηριστικά του και προσαρμόζεται στα δικά μας μέτρα και σταθμά.
 
 
Ο σχεδιασμός του CP1 αντανακλά την επιθυμία της Yamaha για κατασκευή μουσικών οργάνων με διάρκεια στο πέρασμα του χρόνου, όπως έχει πράξει και στο παρελθόν με μοντέλα όπως το περίφημο DX-7, τα κορυφαία SY και τα μοναδικά CP70/80.
