The D 550 is a cardioid dynamic microphone. It has been designed primarily as a bass instrument microphone for tough onstage use on bass drum, tuba, trombone, bass amps, etc. The wide frequency response of the D 550 that slightly favors the low frequency and treble ranges ensures a very powerful sound and good intelligibility.

The term “cardioid polar response? means that the D 550 is most sensitive to sound arriving from in front of it, less sensitive to sound arriving from the sides, and least sensitive to sound arriving from the rear. This polar pattern is virtually the same for all frequencies (“frequency independent?). A shock absorbing wire-mesh outer grille and plastic housing protect the the transducer system from damage. The outer steel wire mesh grille and a layer of a special textile material form a very effective windscreen against pop and wind noise.

The D 550 features a standard 3-pin male XLR-type connector. This connector type is internationally standardized so that you can connect the microphone to the rest of your equipment using any commercial microphone cable with a female 3-pin XLR-type connector. The supplied H 440 clamp lets you mount the microphone directly on a snare drum, tom tom, or similar percussion instruments.

The Shure SM57 unidirectional dynamic microphone is exceptional for musical instrument pickup or for vocals. With its bright, clean sound and carefully contoured presence rise, the SM57 is ideal for live sound reinforcement and recording. It has an extremely effective cardioid pickup pattern which isolates the main sound source while minimizing background noise. In the studio, it is excellent for recording drums, guitar, and woodwinds. For musical instruments or vocals, the SM57 is a consistent choice of professional performers. It is also the standard microphone used on the podium of the U.S. President for over 30 years. Its outstanding performance, legendary reliability, and diversity of application make this "workhorse" the choice of performers, producers, and sound engineers the world over.
  • Contoured frequency response for clean, instrumental reproduction and rich vocal pickup
  • Professional-quality reproduction for drum, percussion, and instrument amplifier miking
  • Uniform cardioid pickup pattern isolates the main sound source while reducing background noise

Excellent for acoustic and electric instruments as well as for vocals, the extremely versatile Beta 57A dynamic microphone provides optimal warmth and presence. The Beta 57A maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. This insures high gain before feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off-axis tone coloration. A completely new grille design lets you take better advantage of proximity effect. The Beta 57A is an exceptionally versatile microphone. Typical applications include drums, guitar amplifiers, brass, woodwinds and vocals.
  • Tailored frequency response provides drums, guitars, vocals, and horns with studio quality sound
  • Uniform supercardioid pattern for high gain-before-feedback and superior rejection of off-axis sound
  • Hardened steel mesh grille that facilitates use of proximity effect and resists wear and abuse
  • Neodymium magnet for high signal-to-noise ratio output
  • Advanced pneumatic shock mount system that minimizes transmission of mechanical noise and vibration
  • Frequency response: 50 to 16,000 Hz
