HeadTAP - Headphone Tap Overview

Sometimes floor monitors are a problem. There isn?t enough room for them onstage
or someone sits in and can?t hear the monitors or the drummer can?t hear them well
enough. Or perhaps it?s a pick-up gig or a rehearsal and you didn?t have enough time
to set them up. In any case, sometimes it would be preferable just to put on headphones
and somehow connect them to the PA. That?s where a headphone tap comes in. This
is a passive device with an input to connect the PA or monitor amplifier and an output
to connect the headphones. A volume control regulates the headphone level and internal
resistors keep the unit?s impedance high enough to protect the headphones. It also
protects the amplifier from encountering too low a load impedance while powering tap
units, the speaker system or several tap units by themselves. The HeadTAP will also
work with a stereo headphone amplifier for use in recording situations when you want
to add headphones for additional performers.

Overview

With Sennheiserʼs HDVD 800, sound is perfect. The HDVD 800 is able to connect with digital sources and is equipped with a high-quality Burr-Brown digital/analog converter (DAC) that converts digital audio data into analog signals with a resolution of 24 bits and a sampling rate of up to 192 kHz. This enables the HDVD 800 to transmit the entire frequency spectrum of high-end audio sources without any loss of frequencies.

In addition to the symmetrical inputs, the HDVD 800 also has an asymmetrical input socket; incoming signals are symmetrized before further processing takes place. Digital sources can be connected to the rear of the unit via an XLR (AES/EBU) input, optical and coaxial (S/PDIF) digital inputs or USB. All digital inputs accept signals up to 24 bit at 192 KHz*. Designed and manufactured in Germany, this high-end, solid-state amplifier harmonize perfectly and deliver an ultimate acoustic performance when paired with any of Sennheiserʼs audiophile headphones.

The amPlug Night Train perfectly simulates the high-gain sound of the compact VOX Night Train tube amp. Just as with the actual Night Train head, you can switch between the two preamp sounds. The BRIGHT position boosts the high-frequency range; the THICK position offers a chunkier, heavier sound. The emulated speaker cabinet circuit accurately recreates the sound of the Night Train amp being played through the matching V112NT single 12" Night Train speaker cabinet. As a finishing touch, amPlug Night Train share some of the cool looks of its namesake amplifier.
