dbx 1261 Overview

The ZonePRO 1261 from dbx is a digital zone processor that features twelve-channels of input and six-outputs. The unit is suitable for installation in restaurants, fitness centers, nightclubs and any other situation that requires multiple-zone control of audio sources with paging features. The ZonePRO 1261 has no front panel control and requires a computer for initial set-up.

The processor provides two balanced inputs on Euroblock terminals that are selectable as line or microphone level (with phantom power) along with eight pairs of analog RCA line inputs, with each pair internally summed to mono. An RCA coaxial S/PDIF digital input is also available. Outputs are available via Euroblock terminals and can be configured as either stereo or mono. A DB-9 connector is located on the front panel for connecting to a computer.

The included Windows based control software communicates with the unit via RS-232 or Ethernet. Processor blocks can be switched in or out of a chain and include input gain, high-pass filtering, parametric EQ, compression, limiting, gating, AGC, ducking, de-essing, AFS (Advanced Feedback Suppression), notch filters, signal routing, band-pass filtering, delay and polarity. An AutoWarmth module provides gentle bass boost compensation as signal levels are lowered.

The ZonePRO 1261 really shines when utilized with optional remote wall-mount controllers that can be positioned within the various zones. The wall-mounts are able to provide local volume control or scene selection, dependent on the type of controller installed. A built-in real-time clock can provide programmable system changes throughout the day or week. All program memory is non-volatile, ensuring program security in the event of power failure or computer malfunction.

Note:
Stereo sources and stereo output can be configured using the control software, but input channels and number of zones available will be reduced correspondingly.

Twelve-channel input, six-output zone processor with no front panel control

Note:
Each pair of RCA inputs is internally summed to mono. To maintain a stereo source, two sets of inputs need to be used

Processing blocks available on both inputs and outputs

Up to six zones can receive independent audio sources, with paging priority

Note:
Number of zones available will depend on whether mono or stereo output channels are required, with zones available decreasing by two for every stereo channel

Local zone control is available utilizing the optional WC series of wall-mounted controllers

Microphone input can have AFS (Advanced Feedback Suppression) inserted with fixed or live filter response

“Autowarmth” module provides a bass-boost to low level signals

AGC (Automatic Gain Control) maintains even levels

Other dynamic DSP includes compression, limiting, noise gating and ducking

Includes band-pass and crossover filters, notch filtering and parametric EQ

Security lockout

The ZonePRO 640m offers fixed I/O, pre-configured architecture, configurable insert processing and optional duplication of audio channels to another ZonePRO device via a link bus.

The 640m features a total of six inputs and four outputs. Inputs include four balanced mic/line switchable terminal block inputs and two mono-summed pairs of unbalanced RCA inputs. Hardware-controlled microphone gain allows adjustment of microphone gain per channel.

The 640m device has a pre-configured architecture with input processing, a central matrix and output processing. Two input insert positions and one output insert position allow channel-specific insert processing to be configured. AutoWarmth®, a psychoacoustic function that maintains full frequency bandwidth even when the signal level has dropped, is permanently available on each output zone.

A link bus allows duplication of the first six audio channels to another ZonePRO device in applications where additional output zones are required.

The front panel of the 640m features comprehensive signal metering, an informative LCD display and user-specified front panel control.

Additional system control is offered in the form of optional Zone Controllers. This collection of hardware wall-controllers represents a series of simple, elegant user interfaces for functions such as volume, source and preset control.

All ZonePRO devices can be controlled by third party control systems via RS-232 or Ethernet as applicable (see table for further information).

ZonePRO Designer—the configuration, control and monitoring software for the ZonePRO family of devices—offers control of the ZonePRO 640m via Ethernet or RS-232. The Configuration Wizard within ZonePRO Designer guides users through the step-by-step configuration process of the 640m.

The KT-AES50 network module provides a dual port AES50 digital audio interface, compatible with both the Klark Teknik DN9650 and DN9652 Network Bridges and the Midas NEUTRON-NB Dual Network Bridge Expansion Module for the industry-leading NEUTRON High Performance Audio System Engine. Featuring up to 48 bidirectional channels at both 48 kHz or 96 kHz sample rates, with dual port redundancy in 48 kHz systems, KT-AES50 enables the interconnection of two AES50 networks operating at 96 kHz and 48 kHz respectively, as well as providing expanded AES50 channel counts in either 48 kHz or 96 Hz AES50 networks. KT-AES50 is designed for simplicity of use, and can operates from the incoming AES50 clock or an external clock via host unit. Panel-mounted LED indicators show the connection status for both AES50 ports. KT-AES50 is electrically and mechanically compatible with the industry standard Cirrus CM-1 format. SuperMAC (AES50-Compliant) digital audio networking technology from Klark Teknik simultaneously provides high channel counts, ultra low and deterministic latencies, sample-synchronous and phase-aligned networked clock distribution, error detection and correction, network redundancy, and ease of deployment and use – to meet the demanding requirements of live concert touring. KT-AES50 is compatible with all Midas digital consoles, audio system engines, digital I/O units, as well as with any other AES50-equipped devices.

The NAI48-ES is a digital audio network interface that uses the EtherSound network protocol. Digital mixing consoles such as the Yamaha PM5D, M7CL, or LS9 can be connected to AD8HR 8-channel microphone preamp/AD converter or DA824 DA converter units via the NIA48-ES for remote analog input or output interfacing on stage or wherever needed. This type of system eliminates noise problems that are unavoidable with conventional analog console plus multi-cable type setups, and dramatically reduces microphone cable length for superior sound quality. Cabling between the console and "stage box" units is also simplified for fast, easy setup.
