General Application
Description
The SB184C cinema subwoofer loudspeaker system uses a high power 18-in cone transducer mounted in an optimally vented enclosure to fill small to medium capacity theaters with high definition sub bass information at earth-shaking output levels.
The SB184C?s optimally vented enclosure uses enclosure resonance to increase sub bass response while limiting driver excursion. This method produces less distortion and minimizes driver strain while extending sub bass response to the lower limits of human hearing. Special effects will have greater clarity, greater power and greater impact.
A two-terminal barrier strip, which accomodates bare wire, tinned leads or spade lugs, is located on the side of the enclosure for convenient access in cramped installation areas. An additional two-terminal barrier strip is provided to link multiple subwoofers. The use of multiple SB184C?s provides even greater output capability and further extends low frequency response. All external components feature a ?dead? flat black finish to eliminate the reflection of light through perforated cinema screens.

The new Yamaha CW218V features a super durable, paintable, elastomeric-sprayed coating with foam lined acoustically transparent steel grilles. Gives a great professional look much preferred over carpeted enclosures. Assembled by hand in the US by skilled technicians, each cabinet is designed for better low-end response and includes heavy steel handles and sturdy pole sockets to make moving and positioning easy.
The custom drivers from Eminence feature high-strength curvilinear cones and Kapton® voice coil formers, plus oxygen-free copper voice coils and oversize strontium ferrite magnets to provide high power handling and long life. 15" and 18" drivers use cast aluminum frames to support the massive magnet structure, eliminate flex, and dissipate heat. The titanium diaphragm compression driver is mated to a 90 degree x 40 degree custom-designed horn. Internal electronics feature an over-built crossover network and overload protection.
Connections are dual Neutrik Speakon® and 1/4" jacks. The vented SUB 18 and SUB 28 direct radiators have been designed for subwoofer use in active multiway systems. The superior transient response of the classic bass reflex construction is also well suited for medium to large bass arrays. The premium 700W RMS long excursion woofers feature extremely low THD, and the reliable, all-electronic Voice Coil Tracking Protection prevents thermal overload of the 100mm sandwich voice coils. For maximum dynamics, the SUB models can be driven by extremely powerful amplifiers; thermal overload triggers a virtually inaudible 'soft' power reduction.
