M-Audio Air 192 4 Vocal Studio Pro Overview

Designed as a complete setup for musicians, solo performers, and songwriters questing for studio-quality recordings and fresh sounds, the M-Audio AIR 192|4 Vocal Studio Pro bundles a studio condenser microphone and over-ear headphones with the AIR 192|4 desktop 2×2 USB Type-C audio interface, which provides transparent preamps and converters, easy operability, and an expansive software package of DAWs, virtual instruments, plug-ins, and loops.

With its XLR-1/4″ combo mic/line input and dedicated front-panel 1/4″ Hi-Z instrument input, the AIR 192|4 can simultaneously accommodate a dynamic or condenser mic and an electric guitar/bass while offering separate meters and gain controls for both inputs. Since the interface has two 1/4″ TRS monitor outputs and a 1/4″ headphone output with its own level control, you can connect active speakers and a set of headphones and adjust their volumes independently. The built-in monitor mixer lets you dial in the optimal blend of zero-latency live input signal and low-latency computer playback, so you can smoothly transition from tracking to overdubbing to mixing.

Complete Package for Home Recording

The AIR 192|4 Vocal Studio Pro provides a complete package for recording vocals at home or in your project studio; all you need to supply is a computer, a mic stand, and some creativity.

  • AIR 192|4 desktop 2×2 USB audio interface with USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables
  • Nova Black large-diaphragm cardioid studio condenser microphone with shockmount, XLR cable, windscreen, and carrying pouch
  • HDH40 closed-back, over-ear monitor headphones
  • Bundled software including DAWs, virtual instruments, effect plug-ins, and loops

Studio-Quality Recording for Solo Performers

With the AIR 192|4, you can create 24-bit / 192 kHz studio-quality recordings with an intuitive and easy-to-use audio interface. The AIR 192|4 enables you to record up to two channels at once with its dedicated XLR-1/4″ balanced combo mic/line input (+48V phantom power is switchable), and a front-panel 1/4″ instrument input that has a specially designed gain and impedance stage to provide an accurate representation of a guitar or bass plugged directly into the interface.

Crystal Preamps and High-Resolution Converters

M-Audio’s engineers designed the Crystal preamps to provide you with a transparent, low-noise preamp that guarantees an accurate sound from your microphones and captures your performance exactly the way you intended. The AIR 192|4 incorporates pristine A/D converters for 24-bit / 192 kHz resolution digital audio with a dynamic range that lets you capture every nuance and subtlety of the performance.

Nova Black Microphone

At the heart of the Nova Black microphone is an 18mm pure aluminum condenser capsule with a directional cardioid polar pattern. This delivers wide-range frequency response (20 Hz to 20 kHz), resulting in a microphone that captures even the most subtle nuances. Use it for spoken word (podcasts, narrations, etc), vocals, or instruments.

HDH40 Headphones

M-Audio’s HDH40 headphones combine premium transducer elements with a durable, rugged design to deliver superb sound reproduction and the effective acoustic isolation required in recording and monitoring environments.

Listen without Latency

When recording, you want to focus on capturing that perfect moment, so you can get the best performance out of your artist and talent. You don’t want to be bogged down by clicks, pops, or latency. The AIR 192|4 not only features a high-speed USB connection for providing low round-trip latency (2.59 ms) between your machine and your hardware, but it also features monitor mix control for listening directly to the source inputs, providing you with zero-latency technology. The AIR 192|4 sports stereo 1/4″ monitor outputs and a 1/4″ headphone output, each with its own level control.

Bus Powered

The AIR 192|4 is bus powered, so you don’t have to carry around an external power supply. Connect it to your Mac or Windows computer via the supplied USB cables (one USB Type-C and one USB Type-C to Type-A). The interface is class-compliant for Macs and utilizes a downloadable driver for Windows.

Premium Software Suite

The AIR 192|4 comes complete with an expansive software package—two DAWs, 40 effect plug-ins, virtual instruments, and loops—to kickstart your musical creations.

The C 414 B/XLS has been carefully designed to maintain the legendary sonic character of the C 414 family while integrating new features and performance enhancements made possible by new technology. The C 414B/XLS is designed to deliver accurate pickup of all acoustic instruments and voices. The microphone's 5 pickup patterns are easily selectable via an electronic switch with LED indication and offer the selection of omnidirectional, cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-eight patterns. The pickup pattern selector switch utilizes a dual-color LED indicator that provides visual indication of the pattern selected and also changes from green to red to indicate if the microphone's output electronics are being overloaded. The pattern selector can also be used to "lock" the microphone's switch settings by pressing and holding it for 3 seconds. On the rear of the microphone, an electronic switch allows the selection of -6 dB, -12 dB and -18 dB pre-attenuation levels which are accomplished by changing the polarization voltage to the capsule. The C 414 B/XLS has switchable bass cut filters of 12 dB-per-octave at 40 Hz and 80 Hz, and a 6-dB-per-octave filter at 160 Hz for control of proximity effect. On-axis sensitivity for all patterns is 23 mV/Pa and its self-noise is an extremely low 6 dB-A. The C 414 B/XLS has a transformerless output and all-metal chassis, making it immune to electrical interference and RF from digital equipment, video monitors and wireless systems. It comes complete in an all-metal road case with the AKG H-85 shock mount, a PF80 external two-stage pop filter, a W414X external windscreen and an individually-measured chart showing the response curve of the microphone. It is also available in factory-matched stereo pairs packaged with a H50 stereo bar instead of the external pop filter. The C 414B/XLS is built in Vienna, Austria and comes with a three-year limited parts and labor warranty. Features High sensitivity and extremely low self noise Five switchable polar patterns for placement and application flexibility Two-color LEDs provide quick visual indication of selected polar pattern and output overload Elastic capsule suspension greatly minimizes structurally-transmitted noise from chassis vibration H 85 professional shock mount/stand adapter, PF 80 external pop filter and W 414 X external windscreen High sound pressure level capability and wide dynamic range Completely immune to electrostatic and electro-magnetic interference from digital gear, computer monitors, etc. thanks to solid metal housing and transformerless output stage Three switchable bass cut filters and three pre-attenuation pads with LEDs for quick visual indication All switchable components operate in low impedance circuits for ultra-high relability even in extremely humid conditions Optional R 414 remote control unit (available by the end of 2004) offers full control of all switchable parameters via standard microphone cable and 3-pin XLR-type connectors Specifications Type: 1" large diaphragm pressure gradient microphone Polar Patterns: Omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure eight Frequency Range: 20 to 20,000 Hz Sensitivity: 23 mV/Pa (-33 dBV) +/-0.5 dB Max.
