The DEQ624 is a new direction for two channel/stereo graphic equalizers. Although
equalization is the main function, it provides many more benefits. The DEQ624 is a
digital processing unit, under digital control but with a familiar analog feel; no menus
or sub-menus to slow you down on the gig. The DEQ624 incorporates a separate hi-pass
and lo-pass filter for each channel for use in dialing in or out a certain range of frequencies.
There is a narrow Q select that gives more precise control over the frequency being attenuated,
without affecting adjacent frequencies. Metering is via 22-segment board-mounted LED’s
that show output gain as well as a 9-segment LED for gain reduction on each channel.
There is a switchable Range control that changes the cut/boost of individual frequencies
over three different scenarios; +6 dB to -6dB, +12dB to – 12dB or +12 dB to – 24dB. The
Channel-A Master button copies Channel-A settings to Channel-B, eliminating the need to
manually set both channels in a live stereo situation. The DEQ624 provides a Security Lock-
out Feature and enables the user to define and store four preset EQ curves for the venues
or programs where the DEQ624 is most used. Presonus has developed a proprietary 60-cycle
hum cancellation algorithm, which is deemed AHC for ‘Adaptive Hum Cancellation’. The
AHC circuit is the only one of its kind to be used in an audio system and should be worth
the price of admission for many live venues where ground-loops and poorly designed systems
are common. Each channel on the DEQ624 has its own compressor/limiter with Threshold
control for system and listener protection from harsh peaks and transients. The DEQ624 includes
a separate expander for each channel that gives the user control over Threshold and Ratio, which
provides for system noise to be minimized when idle. The rear panel of the DEQ624 provides for XLR
Balanced in an out as well as barrier-strip terminals for permanent installation. The power supply is
internal and the chassis is custom molded extruded aluminum and steel.

PASSIVE-ACTIVE FILTER DESIGN
Avalon equalizers feature the unique combination of both active and passive filter EQ designs.
This special combination enables the AD2055 to deliver high speed transient detail at the
operational extremes of real-world equalization demands. The passive high and low bands offer
alternate musical tone range to the full function active parametric mid bands. Passive equalizers
have long been a favorite with music lovers around the world.  Full bodied, powerful (up to +/-32dB,
64dB range !) and sweet frequency selections are the benefits of the passive high-low EQ bands.
The full bandwidth twin mid bands provide variable frequency selection (X10 frequency multipliers
for very wide range), variable Q (width) and amplitude control.

MINIMUM SIGNAL PATH DESIGN
Avalon's advanced true symmetry design offers high-voltage, large headroom, extended bandwidth
and very low noise. The use of 100% discrete, Pure Class A signal amplifiers give the serious music
professional unlimited sonic character and a natural harmonic detail that enhances the program
material and becomes one with the music itself. The Avalon AD2055 breathes life!

The Rane ME 15S microGraphic Equalizer is a two-channel, 2/3-octave design with 20 mm sliders in a single rack space unit. It features a Range switch for high slider resolution in the ±6 dB mode, equivalent resolution to 45 mm sliders found on the DEQ 60L. The ±12 dB mode provides a wide range of control over system audio.

The active filter sections feature Raneʼs innovative constant-Q (constant bandwidth) design. Constant-Q means the bandwidth of each individual filter is guaranteed to be narrow enough to prevent unwarranted interaction between filters, yet wide enough to produce exactly the type of correction curve demanded by even the most unusual acoustic surroundings. This differs dramatically from conventional designs of the past, encumbered with the unfortunate characteristic of changing bandwidth when changing boost/cut amounts.

Front panel controls and indicators include an overall rotary Level control for each channel as well as Overload indicators. Passive pushbutton Bypass switches feature LED indicators, avoiding ambiguity by being on when the unit is Bypassed. (A passive Bypass switch requires no power to operate. This allows completion of the audio path should power fail in the ME 15S.)

Inputs and Outputs are electronically balanced designs, capable of unbalanced operation when required. They accept and drive all possible signal levels into normal load impedances. Balanced applications choose between the XLR or 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve connectors. Unbalanced sources also may tie to the ME 15S through mono 1/4" connectors (no ring connection).

Features
  • Constant-Q Bandwidth Design
  • Overall Level Controls and Passive Bypass Switches
  • 20 mm Filter Slide Controls with ±6 dB or ±12 dB Slider Range
  • Infrasonic, Ultrasonic, & RFI Filters
  • Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS Inputs and Outputs
  • Universal internal switching power supply (100-240 VAC)
