The Radial StageBug SB-4 is a compact active direct box that has been optimized for use with piezo transducers. This enables violin, dobro, mandolin, cello, upright bass and other instruments that are best amplified using a piezo to be connected without compromising the tone or frequency response.

The design begins with a ¼” input for the instrument pickup. Unlike typical direct boxes that have a 1meg-ohm input impedance, the SB-4 features a very high 5meg-ohm impedance that smoothes out troublesome peaks that give piezos a bad name. The higher impedance also broadens the frequency response for a more natural and pleasing sound. The active circuit performs the high-to-low impedance conversion and balances the signal to enable long runs upwards to 100 meters without loss, delivering spectacular linearity and low distortion throughout the audio range.

To help eliminate feedback on stage, the SB-4 is equipped with a high-pass filter and 180° polarity reverse switch. The high pass filter eliminates excessive bottom end which in turn reduces resonance that can cause the top of the instrument to vibrate. The 180° polarity reverse helps reduce acoustic hot spots on stage by changing the phase relationship between the PA system and room acoustics which can combine at certain frequencies to create peaks.

Reversing the polarity eliminates the acoustic peak without resorting to severe equalization which only serves to compromise the natural tone of the instrument. Connections include an AUX out for a stage amplifier plus a standard XLR output to feed the PA. Power is derived from the console’s 48V phantom, thus eliminating the need for batteries or external supply. One simply connects, turns on the phantom power and plays.

Features:

  • Active DI optimized for piezo transducers
  • Smoothes out peaks, eliminates squawk
  • High pass filter eliminates resonance
  • Ultra compact to fit in your guitar case

You're serious about getting rid of all that excess noise on stage, but you've got so many line
instruments you don't know where to start. The ADB-4 from Stewart can take care of all your
high impedance problems. The ADB-4 is 4 active direct boxes, all in a module that only takes
up half a space on your keyboard rack. It's a rugged, durable piece of equipment that packs a
lot of DI power.

? Requires phantom power or 9v battery
? Ground lift switch
? Instrument or speaker level switch
? Transformerless
? Can be used with amp up to 400w
? RF shielding

With added functionality and enhanced audio performance, the AR-133 has been designed to be more affordable for musicians, studios and PA companies. The unit includes phantom power and battery supplies as standard. Should the phantom power from the console fail or be accidentally switched off, the AR-133 automatically switches over to the internal 9V battery providing uninterrupted use. The unit is housed in a rugged aluminium extrusion case, with robust polyurethane end-cheeks which give the AR-133 a very distinctive look. Input connectors are both 1/4" jack sockets and an XLR socket, the latter meaning that the AR-133 can be used to convert unbalanced signals to a balanced output on XLRs throughout. The arched case allows cables to run back underneath the unit from the end for neat cable management. Input attenuation is 0, -20 or -40dB, making the box suitable for instrument, line or amplifier levels on inputs. On the output side, a ground-lift switch is provided for quick solutions to ground-loop problems. The AR-133 uses an enhanced version of the same audio path as the AR-116, now regarded by many people as a reference standard. The sound quality is legendary, particularly on acoustic and bass guitars. Numerous applications can be satisfied by the AR-133. For example, as well as the traditional guitar use, the AR-133 can be used with keyboards, DJ consoles, amplifier outputs, and other electronic sources. An additional bonus is the ability to use the AR-133 as an active balancing device. Active DI-Box SM-60

The electronic Direct-Injection Box SM-60 allows direct connection of electronic
music instruments such as keyboards, synthesizers, electric and electronic pianos,
etc. with mixing consoles in PA-systems and in recording studios.
The SM-6 is designed for applications, where a passive DI-Box does not perfom
satisfactorily, i.e., where the output level of a passive DI-Box is too low for the microphone
input section of the mixing desk.
Because the input impedance of the SM-6 is above 5 MOhm, instrument outputs are
not loaded or in any other way adversely affected. The voltage ratio from input to output
is 1: 1 and is always sufficient for connection with any microphone input. Input connectors
are 1/4" phone jacks, output connector is a Switchcraft D3M; output is 600 Ohms,
transformer balanced. The output level may in certain cases overload microphone inputs -
the line input section of the mixing console must then be used for connecting the SM-6.
The unit operates with a 9 V battery or phantom powering from 24 to 48 volts.

Phantom or battery powered in a rugged steel chassis

The ARX DI-PLUS 2 represents another major step forward in active direct boxes. Packaged in
a single channel stand-alone format, the DI-PLUS 2 represents a fresh look at active stereo
D.I. concepts.

Precision engineered
Ultra quiet, ultra clean circuitry delivers maximum headroom whatever the signal. Premium grade
components, plus an all-steel chassis gives excellent hum and noise specifications and superb
audio quality in a tough, roadworthy package. Accurate Left and Right channel level matching keeps
the stereo image centred.

Level control
The DI-PLUS 2 features two high impedance unbalanced inputs on the front panel, running to balanced
XLR outputs on the rear. A a global Pad switch drops inputs by 20dB, making it suitable for all applications
from the softest keyboard to the hottest broadcast levels.

Battery compartment
The revolutionary simple 'clamshell' action of the DI-PLUS 2 battery compartment makes battery changing
extremely easy, even on the darkest stages.
A 9v alkaline battery snaps into a PCB mounted battery holder for fast, secure location. No fragile battery clip
leads to break, no tools required, no screws to lose. Production crew heaven!

Automatic Phantom switching
The DI-PLUS 2 will automatically switch itself to the console's own Phantom Power, if available, and an LED
will indicate this mode. Turn the Phantom Power off and it will instantly revert back to battery mode.

Rugged all-steel case
A lot of direct boxes are fitted into brittle cast alloy cases. Not this one! The tough all-steel inner and outer
chassis of the DI-PLUS 2 provide excellent RF/EMF shielding while making it a sturdy, heavy duty unit that
is hard to dislodge, and hard to leave behind.

Rear panel showing Left and Right XLR connectors, ground lift switch, battery check switch and LED, plus
phantom power On LED and captive screw for opening up the unit for battery changing

Whether you're a Studio or Live Sound engineer, installation contractor, or broadcast engineer, you want all
the dynamics, clarity and stereo information of the original sound source transferred to the mixing console.
The ARX DI-PLUS 2 provides a rugged, no-compromise solution to all stereo direct injection and signal
balancing requirements.
