Precision 6D
The active versions of the Precision range incorporate powerful digital amplification
and advanced electronic processing that together take full advantage of the drivers?
capabilities. The result is greater dynamic range and low-frequency extension, higher
output levels, lower distortion and enhanced reliability.

MAIN FEATURES
From the front:
40mm MDF sculpted baffle ? stiff, heavy and rigid and minimises diffraction.
Recessed drive units flush with the baffle surface ? minimises diffraction.
10 point fixing maximises contact between drive unit and baffle.
Drive unit development using Klippell? analysis equipment to minimise offsets
and linearise the suspension components.
Cast chassis Tannoy Dual Concentric? point source constant directivity driver.
Effectively two drivers properly merged into one, with the HF mounted on the back
of the LF unit so that both drivers are on the same axis, As a result sound energy
is propagated from the same point and delivered through the centre of the low frequency
cone providing a true point source. This integrated approach provides a constant time
delay over the frequency spectrum offering better transient performance and sound quality
with better harmonic alignment than a displaced source monitor design. The crucial benefit
at the mix position is the delivery of a more natural and cleaner sound with greatly enhanced
intelligibility.
A key benefit of the Dual design is a very wide ‘sweet spot’ with an exceptionally even response
throughout the listening area and extraordinary transient response. This phase accurate Tannoy
designed drive unit has, for all these reasons, been the choice of professional studio engineers
for decades.
Tannoy SuperTweeterTM extends the amplitude response beyond 20kHz audibility to 50kHz to
correct the phase response from 8kHz to 20kHz within the audible band. This preserves the
harmonic structure of sounds and the stability of the stereo image.
Smooth tweeter faceplate contours prevent diffraction and cavity effects.
From the side:
18mm MDF cabinet construction provides stiffness and minimises colouration.
Internal construction braces the sides and rear of the cabinet against the rear
of the bass driver to provide a rigid reactive mass for the moving cone assembly.
Ensures fast tight bass response and clear midrange.
Front baffle and rear panel tongued and grooved into the cabinet as a mechanical
interlock for safety if wall mounted.
From the rear:
Double insulated to prevent ground loops ? no safety earth required.
CSA/CE/CCC/CB full safety approvals including China.
Spare fuse in IEC mains connector.
On/Off mains isolator switch.
Substantial heat sinking for long term cool running and 24/7 reliability.
XLR and _? jack Combi connector for balanced input.
Switch adjacent to XLR selects digital or analogue input.
RCA input for SPDIF with 75 Ohm terminating impedance.
2nd RCA for SPDIF output for slaving a stereo pair.
Yellow LED indicator lights up when digital lock is achieved.
3-way switch selects which channel of the SPDIF stream is decoded, marked
Left/Right/Mono. Switching is post 2 channel DAC.
Trim/Gain control over +6dB/-12dB range reference 0dBV (0.775V) input for full rated output.
Trim/Gain control works on SPDIF input post DAC.
Switch selection of 12dB/8ve 80Hz hi-pass filter for use with AV subwoofers.
First bank of 10 DIP switches controls LF alignment, mid/near/close field and half/quarter/
eighth space compensation.
Second bank of DIP switches controls mid band and HF shelving trim.
Note that the DIP switch flat setting is shown on the back panel artwork.
Small hole to the right of the right hand switch bank allows the factory set HF trim
on test to be fine trimmed

S3X-V

Using the newly developed 4” HexaCone midrange and 9” HexaCone woofer combined together with the X-ART tweeter creates the unique S3X-V control monitor.

A step up over the smaller models, the S3X-V is capable of producing more power and volume along with a more detailed and homogeneous sound that will impress even the most experienced sound engineer. Whether the complex sonic images of an orchestra or the smooth tone of a jazz trio, the S3X-V reveals even the finest nuances of any material. The driver assembly of the S3X-V allows long time, non-fatiguing listening sessions.

Reviews: "Wonderfully detailed...”

“Wonderfully detailed, with an exceptionally transparent mid-range. [...] ADAM make the leap to a three-way speaker design that seems to pay dividends in clarity and separation. [...] I think it would be fair to say theyʽre the best sounding ADAM monitors Iʽve reviewed.” (Sound On Sound, 12/2009)

“No doubt, the S3X-V deserve the title Reference Monitor. With this series, ADAM Audio proves to have a very good feeling for meeting the specific demands of the sound engineerʽs guild, creating studio standards at the same time. [...] A precision tool combined with a luxury good.” (www.96kHz.de, 03/2010)

The Solo6 Be monitor will surprise you in the very first minutes you spend with it, partly due to its size/extended bass response (40Hz at -3dB). The 6.5" "W” composite sandwich mid-woofer combines neutrality in the midrange, fullness in the midbass register and bass control. Its compactness and the choice of a large front laminar port guarantee easy integration in studios that need a near field monitor without any acoustic compromise. The user settings on the back of the Solo6 Be, combined with its compactness, make it easy to carry and to adjust according to the acoustics of each studio.

A revolutionary formula: 2 x 7 = 77

In some set-ups it can be advisable to use a horizontally designed speaker rather than a vertical one. Until now, such monitors were only available within the SX top line.

The brand new A77X, due to its outstanding features, might become a true game changer: Equipped with the same advanced technologies as the A7X, it therefore is very similar to the two-way speaker. The A77X, however, distinguishes itself by much higher, compression-free maximum sound pressure levels and dynamics. Due to its power and radiation characteristics, it also is perfectly suited for both near- and midfield monitoring.

Driver technology

Like all models of the AX series, the A77X features the ADAM proprietary X-ART tweeter. The ʽXʼ stands for ʽeXtended frequency responseʼ and thus for one of the features of the Accelerating Ribbon Technology that has been drastically improved: the frequency response. It now extends all the way up to 50kHz. In addition, the X-ART tweeter has higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels.

The two 7” woofers are identical with that of the A7X. With their large voice coils (1.5”) and powerful amplifiers, they are capable of both very high maximum sound pressure levels as well as very deep registers. The woofers do not cover the same frequency bands: while both of them are responsible for the (sub-) bass frequencies up to about 400Hz, only one of them reproduces the midrange. This prevents interferences between the two drivers. For stereo setups the A77X is available in A and B versions in order to guarantee a precise stereo image.

Amplifiers / controls

Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the bass-/midwoofers are driven by a 100W PWM amp each. The front panel includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on/off switch.

The rear panel features several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies (± 4dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies.
To ensure greater compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.

Review samples:

“… a refreshing change“
"… if you liked the A7X youʼll like the A77X even more, and if the companyʼs smaller near-fields werenʼt your cup of tea, the A77X are definitely worth another listen. They are not much bigger than a two-driver cabinet design, so should slip into any installation where a near-field speaker will fit, but the extra low/ mid frequency drivers mean that the bass is more naturally extended and the mid-range clearer and more detailed. I like the A77X a lot and they make a refreshing change from the usual mid-priced near-field speakers." AUDIO MEDIA magazine / February 2012

“… wide and spacious soundstage with solid left/right imaging“
"… they are fun and easy to work with, covering all the essential functions required of high-end monitors with aplomb." MusicTech magazine / April 2012
