Reveal 6D
A set of DIP switches on the rear control panel of the new Reveal D Active monitors
allow the selection of an optimum speaker response for real life and often difficult
monitoring situations so that the frequency response at the listener?s ears is always
as linear and flat as possible. Reveal monitors can therefore be optimised for varying
listening distances in difficult acoustic spaces; varying meter bridge positions, against
and adjacent to walls or reflecting surfaces, in corners, in corners on shelves or brackets,
table top / space restricted PC/Mac based sound editing environments and stand mounted
or soffit mounted configurations.
MAIN FEATURES
From the front:
40mm MDF sculpted baffle ? stiff, heavy and rigid and minimises diffraction.
Recessed drive units flush with the baffle surface ? minimises diffraction.
New tweeter has wide band design extending the amplitude response
beyond 20kHz audibility to 50kHz to correct the phase response from
8kHz to 20kHz within the audible band. This preserves the harmonic
structure of sounds and the stability of the stereo image.
Smooth tweeter faceplate contours prevent diffraction and cavity effects.
10 point fixing maximises contact between drive unit and baffle.
New design bass units have aluminium flux control rings around the
voice coils and copper caps on the pole pieces ? linearises the voice
coil motional impedance to reduce non linear (3rd order) distortion
products caused by varying voice coil inductance.
Bass unit development using Klippell? analysis equipment to
minimise offsets and linearise the suspension components.
On/Mute (energy saving mode) via the Tannoy logo push switch.
LED indicator shows Active/Energy Saving modes.
From the side:
18mm MDF cabinet construction provides stiffness and minimises colouration.
Internal construction braces the sides and rear of the cabinet against the rear
of the bass driver to provide a rigid reactive mass for the moving cone assembly.
Ensures fast tight bass response and clear midrange.
Front baffle and rear panel tongued and grooved into the cabinet as a mechanical
interlock for safety if wall mounted.
From the rear:
Double insulated to prevent ground loops ? no safety earth required.
CSA/CE/CCC/CB full safety approvals including China.
Spare fuse in IEC mains connector.
On/Off mains isolator switch.
Substantial heat sinking for long term cool running and 24/7 reliability.
XLR and 1/4? jack Combi connector for balanced input.
Switch adjacent to XLR selects digital or analogue input.
RCA input for SPDIF with 75 Ohm terminating impedance.
2nd RCA for SPDIF output for slaving a stereo pair.
Yellow LED indicator lights up when digital lock is achieved.
3-way switch selects which channel of the SPDIF stream is decoded,
marked Left/Right/Mono. Switching is post 2 channel DAC.
Trim/Gain control over +6dB/-12dB range reference 0dBV (0.775V)
input for full rated output.
Trim/Gain control works on SPDIF input post DAC.
Switch selection of 12dB/8ve 80Hz hi-pass filter for use with AV subwoofers.
First bank of 10 DIP switches controls LF alignment, mid/near/close field and
half/quarter/eighth space compensation.
Second bank of DIP switches controls mid band and HF shelving trim.
Note that the DIP switch flat setting is shown on the back panel artwork.
Small hole to the right of the right hand switch bank allows the factory set HF
trim on test to be fine trimmed by a service agent if a tweeter needs to be replaced.

The CMS 50 is the most compact monitoring loudspeaker of all the Focal Professional range. Its design permits listening from 50cm away, while still keeping the possibility of the monitors at a great distance from one another without damaging the soundstage. The 5” mid-woofer reaches down to 55Hz, while offering a controlled bass and a totally linear midrange. The midrange register of the CMS 50 has unequalled neutrality in its price range. The Al-Mg inverted dome tweeter offers outstanding dynamics and a degree of definition in the treble that allow precise measurement of reverb and other effects which are normally very difficult to assess.

PRICE PER UNIT The most powerful AX monitor With its power and radiation characteristics, the brand new A8X is suitable for both nearfield and midfield monitoring. With a price/performance ratio that could hardly be better, this monitor is a perfect entry into these monitoring fields. The A8X is equipped with the X-ART tweeter and a large (8.5”) midwoofer, a combination that adds both a very deep and yet very tight bass response to the unsurpassed reproduction qualities of the ADAM proprietary tweeter: a licence to thrill. Cabinet- and bass reflex-construction Like the other AX-Series models, the upper corners of the A8X are slanted to minimize reflections. The very large, double bass reflex tubes on the front have been specifically designed to perfectly match the midwoofer with its large voice coil. Amplification and controls With a 50W A/B amplifier for the tweeter and a 150W PWM amplifier for the midwoofer, the A8X has power in abundance and is the brawny monitor of the AX-Series. On the rear panel are several controls: a gain for the high frequencies (± 4dB) and two shelf filters for the high and low frequencies. There are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors on the rear panel of the speaker, which allow the A8X to be used in almost any application. Review: A8X: a "powerful link" between near- and midfield monitors! "The A8X is a powerful link between ADAM´s AX Series and the formidable and more expensive SX Series. Its all-in-all homogenous tuning, the deep and precise bass as well as the brilliant mid- and high-frequency reproduction make this speaker a huge recommendation for ambitious people without deep pockets." PRICE PER UNIT ADAMs A7 & A7X: the evolution of a legend The predecessor to the A7X, the A7, became the most famous of all ADAM monitors in a very short time. Not only has it been reviewed over three dozen times with outstanding results, it has also received numerous awards. The A7 quickly gained mass appeal, praised in many of the worldʼs largest internet forums. Still today, the A7 are the reference monitors in many smaller studios. With the A7X, ADAM Audio proudly presents the evolution of a legend. It takes everything that made the A7 such an outstanding speaker to a new level. Driver technology The first aspect that distinguishes the old from the new model is the X-ART tweeter. The ʽXʼ stands for ʽeXtended frequency responseʼ and thus for one of the features of the Accelerating Ribbon Technology that has been drastically improved: the frequency response. It now extends all the way up to 50kHz. In addition, the X-ART tweeter has a higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels. The perfect integration with the lower frequencies has been achieved with a newly designed 7” midwoofer. It has been redesigned with a much bigger voice coil (1.5”) and is driven by an amplifier with twice the power compared to its predecessor. This combination produces an amazing sound and pressure levels with an almost distortion-free musical reproduction. Amplifiers / controls Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the midwoofer is being driven by a 100W PWM amp. The front panel includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on/off switch. On the rear panel are several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies (± 4dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies. To ensure greater compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.
