In the tradition of the SM58?, the Beta 58A dynamic microphone has become a top choice among vocalists and touring sound professionals.

The Shure Beta 58A is a high-output supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone designed for professional sound reinforcement and project studio recording. It maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. This insures high gain-before-feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off-axis tone coloration. The Beta 58A has a shaped frequency response that is ideal for close-up vocals. The superb performance of this microphone is not affected by rough handling because of its rugged construction, proven shock mount system, and hardened steel mesh grille. Typical applications for the Beta 58A include lead vocals, backup vocals and speech.

  • Smooth, extended frequency response for outstanding sound for professional live vocal use
  • Consistent supercardioid pattern provides the best gain-before-feedback among dynamic microphones
  • Pneumatic shock mount reduces handling noise
  • Frequency response: 50 to 16,000 Hz
  • Frequency response tailored for vocals, with brightened midrange and bass rolloff to control proximity effect
  • Uniform supercardioid pattern for high gain before feedback and superior rejection of off–axis sound
  • Neodymium magnet for high signal–to–noise output
  • Hardened steel mesh grille that resists wear and abuse
  • Advanced pneumatic shock mount system that minimizes transmission of mechanical noise and vibration
  • Minimally effected by varying load impedance
  • Legendary Shure quality and reliability

  • Exceptionally uniform cardioid pattern minimizes feedback in PA applications
  • Selectable dual-impedance operation
  • Silent magnetic reed on/off switch with lock-on option
  • Cardioid dynamic
  • Frequency response: 50 to 15,000 Hz.
The C 414 B/XLS has been carefully designed to maintain the legendary sonic character of the C 414 family while integrating new features and performance enhancements made possible by new technology. The C 414B/XLS is designed to deliver accurate pickup of all acoustic instruments and voices. The microphone's 5 pickup patterns are easily selectable via an electronic switch with LED indication and offer the selection of omnidirectional, cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-eight patterns. The pickup pattern selector switch utilizes a dual-color LED indicator that provides visual indication of the pattern selected and also changes from green to red to indicate if the microphone's output electronics are being overloaded. The pattern selector can also be used to "lock" the microphone's switch settings by pressing and holding it for 3 seconds. On the rear of the microphone, an electronic switch allows the selection of -6 dB, -12 dB and -18 dB pre-attenuation levels which are accomplished by changing the polarization voltage to the capsule. The C 414 B/XLS has switchable bass cut filters of 12 dB-per-octave at 40 Hz and 80 Hz, and a 6-dB-per-octave filter at 160 Hz for control of proximity effect. On-axis sensitivity for all patterns is 23 mV/Pa and its self-noise is an extremely low 6 dB-A. The C 414 B/XLS has a transformerless output and all-metal chassis, making it immune to electrical interference and RF from digital equipment, video monitors and wireless systems. It comes complete in an all-metal road case with the AKG H-85 shock mount, a PF80 external two-stage pop filter, a W414X external windscreen and an individually-measured chart showing the response curve of the microphone. It is also available in factory-matched stereo pairs packaged with a H50 stereo bar instead of the external pop filter. The C 414B/XLS is built in Vienna, Austria and comes with a three-year limited parts and labor warranty. Features High sensitivity and extremely low self noise Five switchable polar patterns for placement and application flexibility Two-color LEDs provide quick visual indication of selected polar pattern and output overload Elastic capsule suspension greatly minimizes structurally-transmitted noise from chassis vibration H 85 professional shock mount/stand adapter, PF 80 external pop filter and W 414 X external windscreen High sound pressure level capability and wide dynamic range Completely immune to electrostatic and electro-magnetic interference from digital gear, computer monitors, etc. thanks to solid metal housing and transformerless output stage Three switchable bass cut filters and three pre-attenuation pads with LEDs for quick visual indication All switchable components operate in low impedance circuits for ultra-high relability even in extremely humid conditions Optional R 414 remote control unit (available by the end of 2004) offers full control of all switchable parameters via standard microphone cable and 3-pin XLR-type connectors Specifications Type: 1" large diaphragm pressure gradient microphone Polar Patterns: Omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure eight Frequency Range: 20 to 20,000 Hz Sensitivity: 23 mV/Pa (-33 dBV) +/-0.5 dB Max. This new mic is a performance / price breakthrough. It has an acoustically identical version of the legendary CK1 capsule that is permanently mounted. This combination can handle high output transients as well as subtle harmonics. Also included are switchable 75 and 150Hz 12dB per octave rolloff, and switchable -10 & -20 dB input pad. It is a single pattern (cardioid), and has a frequency response of 20 to 20kHz with 135 dB SPL. Requires 12 to 48V phantom power. Kit comes with bag, windscreen and clip. For more than twenty years, the AKG C 451 with the CK 1 condenser capsule was a standard item on tour riders for sound companies and required by leading engineers for studio projects. When it was discontinued in 1993, there was still a big demand for this microphone. AKG now has an updated version of this classic microphone. The new C 451B provides the same frequency response as the legendary CK 1 with the same slight high-end rise that was the signature of the original. This characteristic makes the C 451B an ideal tool for capturing signals rich in transients such as acoustic guitars, snare drums, hi-hats and for overhead micing of drum kits. The C 451B?s response eliminates the need for heavy EQ on these instruments. The new C 451B has also benefited from newer electronic technology with machine soldering and surface-mount components that improve noise performance and make the microphone much more reliable than the original. Other special features include switchable 10 dB and 20 dB preattenuation pads and switchable low cut filters at 75 Hz or 150 Hz. Standard accessories included are an SA 40 stand adaptor, W 90 windscreen and a rugged zippered bag. Each C 451B also comes with an individual frequency response printout. Three-year warranty. Specification Polar pattern: cardioid Frequency range: 20?20,000 Hz Sensitivity: 9 mV/Pa (-41 dBV re 1 V/Pa) Max.
